Outlets Often Close, Bantul Regency Government Evaluates Red And White Village Cooperatives

BANTUL - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, will evaluate the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes).

This follows public complaints because the cooperative business unit outlet is often closed, even though the village economic institution has been launched nationally by President Prabowo Subianto on July 21, 2025.

Bantul Regional Secretary (Sekda) Agus Budiraharja said the launch which was carried out nationally only included institutions. Meanwhile, a number of pilot Kopdes have indeed started operating, but it is not yet perfect.

"If there is information that cooperative outlets have not opened non-stop, of course we will coordinate with relevant agencies. This is part of improvement and evaluation," said Agus in Bantul, Antara, Sunday, August 10.

He added that the Kopdes pilot was a learning material for local governments before the program was implemented in all villages or sub-districts.

"Like in Bangunharjo, one of its business units is the distribution of LPG, rice, and fertilizer. We will coordinate whether after the launch of the supply from the agent is smooth or not," he said.

Because it is still in the trial stage, the Bantul Regency Government will coordinate with technical regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and supporting parties for cooperative business activities.

"You don't have to be pessimistic. Starting is definitely something that is not smooth, and this is where it is important to see the shortcomings and potential that can be encouraged," said Agus.

Chairman of the Red and White Kopdes Bangunharjo Yeri Widarnanto explained that the cooperative outlets were often closed because the loan capital had not been disbursed. At the basic food outlets, there are currently only products from one distributor agent, while Bulog products were withdrawn for opname stock purposes.

"So now there are only rice, oil, and sugar at the basic food outlets," he said.

The 3 kilogram subsidized LPG outlets are still open with weekly supplies, and subsidized fertilizer outlets continue to operate using temporary capital from the management.

Sedangkan gerai simpan pinjam, apotek, dan klinik masih tutup. Yeri menyebut pihaknya sedang mengurus izin untuk membuka apotek dan klinik agar tidak melanggar aturan usaha.

Meanwhile, savings and loan outlets, pharmacies, and clinics are still closed. Yeri said that her party was processing permits to open pharmacies and clinics so as not to violate business regulations.
