JAKARTA - Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil has finished undergoing DNA samples related to the alleged defamation case he reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police. DNA test results are expected to come out within a maximum of three weeks.
"Just waiting for the results later. Yes, a maximum of maybe three weeks," said Ridwan Kamil's attorney, Muslim Jaya Butarbutar, to reporters, Thursday, August 7.
The process of sampling was carried out by a team of police doctors. There are two types of samples taken, namely blood and saliva. Apart from Ridwan Kamil, Lisa Mariana's DNA and her child were also taken for examination and matching.
Muslims are reluctant to speculate on test results. However, he emphasized that his client is ready to accept whatever results come out later.
"We don't want to make assumptions. Whatever the results are in the future, once again we underline, Mr. Ridwan Kamil will accept with all his responsibilities," said Muslim.
Ridwan Kamil previously initiated a DNA test application as an effort to speed up the resolution of ongoing cases. He admitted that he did not want this problem to continue to drag on in the public sphere.
"We've been sending this application letter for a long time. So we took the initiative, so it doesn't drag on, so it's finished," said Ridwan Kamil.
According to him, this step is also important so that people do not continue to be treated with information that is not necessarily true, especially things that should not be public consumption.
"Hopefully this test will be the answer to what we have been fighting for," he continued.
Ridwan Kamil reported Lisa Mariana to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on April 11, 2025 on suspicion of defamation. The report is registered with the number LP/B/174/IV/2025/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI.
