PEKANBARU - A member of the Riau Regional Police Mobile Brigade (Polda), Ipda Donald Junus Halomoan (49), died while carrying out the task of extinguishing forest and land fires (karhutla) in Rokan Hilir Regency, last Tuesday.
The deceased, who served as Pasi Provos Battalion B Pioneer of the Riau Police Satbrimob, is under Operational Control (BKO) of the Rokan Hilir Police.
Over the past three weeks, he has been actively at the forefront of efforts to deal with forest and land fires, especially in the jurisdiction of the Simpang Kanan Police.
"The deceased is a strong and dedicated Bhayangkara. He has been at the forefront with the joint team for the past three weeks," said the Commander of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade Unit Kombes Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa in his statement in Pekanbaru, Antara, Wednesday, August 6.
Ipda Donald had led a consolidation rally after the blackout activity on Monday, August 4 before returning to the temporary mess in the hall of the Simpang Kanan sub-district head office.
His colleagues still saw the deceased having dinner and resting as usual that night.
However, the next day when he was about to be woken up for breakfast at around 08.00 WIB, the deceased did not respond. The medical examination carried out by dr. Agus Salim confirmed that Ipda Donald had died.
The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Police, Kombes Anom Caribbeanto, expressed his deep condolences for the departure of Ipda Donald. He said the deceased died in humanitarian duties, and was an example for his colleagues.
"He died in humanitarian tasks, protecting the community and the environment. His commitment and dedication are clear examples of Bhayangkara's spirit in dealing with the annual disaster in Riau," said Anom.
The deceased left a wife and two children. The Riau Police ensured that all the official rights of the deceased would be fulfilled according to the provisions, including compensation and official ceremonies.
