JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stated that the action was carried out on the phenomenon of raising the pirate flag from the Japanese manga series, One Piece, ahead of the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, if individuals or groups try to lead the public not to fly the Red and White flag.

"Even if there is action, that's what I have explained many times, if there are parties who shift the meaning of that expression, for example, by urging them to better fly this," said Prasetyo Hadi as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 4.

Because, he said, the Red and White flag is a symbol of the state whose sacredness must be maintained, especially during the momentum of the commemoration of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day.

"This is sacred to the Red and White flag. We are all children of the Indonesian nation, citizens of the Indonesian nation. I think my friends must also feel disturbed," he said.

The Minister of State Secretary asked the public to prioritize the spirit of national unity and love in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"On independence day, in the month of independence, we must grow enthusiasm, togetherness, homeland and building, unity with each other, work together, full of optimism, work together," he said.

Responding to the raising of the One Piece flag as a form of disappointment with the government, Prasetyo emphasized that the government puts forward a pattern of problem solving through dialogue and cross-party cooperation.

"That there is a problem, yes, we don't cover it up. All problems, one by one we try to find a solution. Patterns of problem solving like today, if you pay attention, this is a new style that between the government, the DPR, with all stakeholders, the community, we sit together, we find a way out," he said.

Recently, the public has been enlivened by the phenomenon of raising the pirate flag from the Japanese manga series, One Piece, ahead of the Indonesian 80th Anniversary on August 17.

The fictitious flag has a black background and skull, as well as two bones that cross behind it. The white skull with a smiling expression is decorated with a yellow straw hat typical of the main character of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy.

As of Saturday (2/8), some of the fictitious flags appear to be attached to a number of points in various regions in Indonesia. While on social media, a number of users replace their profile photos with the animated flag logo.
