Independence Of The Economy, Prabowo's Promise At The Age Of 80 Years Of Indonesian Independence

JAKARTA - The 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, conveyed a national message with the theme of Economic Independence ahead of the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

In an upload on the official Instagram account @presidenrepublicindonesia on Sunday, July 3, Prabowo emphasized that 80 years of independence is not just age, but a milestone in the nation's long struggle to achieve its true economic independence.

"What is meant by economic independence is to create space for the people to grow, take strategic steps to build economic sovereignty, and strengthen the value of mutual cooperation and social justice as stated in Pancasila," Prabowo said in his statement.

He added that welfare must be instilled in the country itself, and the nation's development must be directed together by all elements of society.

Since taking office on October 20, 2024, President Prabowo has launched various priority programs to encourage national economic independence. Some of the main steps that have been taken include:

- Issuance of Government Regulations related to the abolition of bad debts for MSMEs.

- Rules of obligation to store foreign exchange results from domestic natural resources exports.

- The establishment of the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) with assets reaching IDR 11,000 trillion.

- Launch of the national gold bank. Establishment of 80,000 Red and White Cooperatives at the village and sub-district levels.

- Development of the Industropolis Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Batang. The average increase in the minimum wage is 6.5%.

- Construction of 3 million houses for low-income people (MBR).

- Rp 600,000 wage subsidy assistance (BSU) for workers with low income.

Previously, on July 23, 2025, Prabowo also inaugurated the logo and official theme of the INDONESIA's 80th Anniversary at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta. This year's theme, 'United Sovereign, People of Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia', reflects the nation's great ideals in maintaining diversity and strengthening national sovereignty.

"Our country must continue to unite in diversity, strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation for prosperity and progress together," he said.

The design of the commemoration logo for the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was created by Bram Patria Yoshugi, an ADGI member from Bandung and was directly elected by the president of the 245 works that came in. This logo features a red 80 mark and a big theme for this year's commemoration.
