Families Of Victims Of The Murder Of ODGJ Teenagers In Bengkulu Get Trauma Healing Assistance

JAKARTA - The Bengkulu City Government (Pemkot), Bengkulu Province provides assistance to the husband and the two children of the victim YT (42) who were killed by their biological child, NR (18), who is suspected of having a mental disorder.

"We will provide assistance to the victim's family, the victim has two other children and one husband," said Head of the Bengkulu City Social Service (Dinsos) Sahat Marulitua Situmorang when contacted by telephone in Bengkulu, Sunday.

He mentioned that the assistance that will be given to the victim's family is to provide stimulation for trauma reduction, and this will be done when the family's mental condition is ready.

For now, his party is still giving time to the families of the victims who are grieving.

Meanwhile, assistance provided to perpetrators of NR (18) will be carried out if the police ask for help.

Meanwhile, based on information received by ANTARA, the NR perpetrator accompanied by members of the police is currently at the Soeprapto Mental Special Hospital (RSKJ) Bengkulu City to undergo further examination.

Previously, the Bengkulu City Resort Police (Polresta) arrested 18-year-old NR who was suspected of having a mental disorder, after killing his biological mother, YT (49) while performing Dzuhur prayers on Saturday, August 2, 2025.

"Currently, we are still investigating the alleged mental disorders of the perpetrators, including checking whether he has a yellow card (information of mental disorders). Based on information from residents, the person concerned has been treated at a mental hospital," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Gading Cempaka Police, Bengkulu Police, Iptu Putra Agung.

He said that the temporary motive for the murder case occurred was because the perpetrator NR had a mental disorder and had just left the Soeprapto Mental Special Hospital (RSKJ) Bengkulu City on July 30, 2025.

One of the victim's neighbors, Yuli, explained that the perpetrator had a history of mental disorders and often took sedatives.

"He just returned from the mental hospital and often recurred," he said.

Another neighbor, Ice (42), also conveyed the same thing, that the perpetrator had just returned from a mental hospital and often showed aggressive behavior towards his mother.
