Palestinian Cultural Genocide Occurs, Fadli Zon Urges The World To Give Israel Strict Sanctions

Jakarta Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, strongly condemns Israel's brutal actions in Gaza which he assesses not only claimed lives, but also abolished the identity of the Palestinian people. In a peaceful demonstration held by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Indonesian People's Alliance of Defending Palestine (ARI-BP) at Monas, Jakarta, Sunday, August 3, 2025, Fadli called Israel's atrocities a cultural genocide in the 21st century.

Fadli stated that the Indonesian government under President Prabowo Subianto is committed to fully supporting Palestinian independence. This attitude, he stressed, is not just a political choice, but the constitutional mandate to oppose all forms of colonialism and oppression.

"We witnessed the mass massacre of women and children. Hospitals, schools, places of worship, and refugee camps were bombarded. This is not war. This is genocide," said Fadli loudly.

He also highlighted systematic destruction of cultural sites, historical artifacts, and Palestinian culturalists. According to him, this is an attempt to erase the collective memory and heritage of civilization inherent in Palestinian history. "Israel not only kills, but also wants to make Palestine forgotten."

Fadli appreciated the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, who he considered consistent in international diplomacy to stop atrocities in Gaza. However, he stressed, political support alone is not enough.

"The countries that continue to defend Israel have lost moral legitimacy to talk about human rights and democracy. The world must act," he stressed.

He urged the international community to impose real sanctions on Israel. "Not just statements, but firm economic, political and diplomatic sanctions," he said.

Fadli believes this struggle will be the turning point for the rise of Palestine as a sovereign country with a reviving civilization. "Our spirit is the spirit of justice and humanity," he concluded, greeted by the takbir of thousands of peaceful protesters.
