Prabowo Gathers Senior TNI, BIN, and Defense Ministry Officials to Discuss Global Unrest

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto summoned high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to provide direct guidance on global turmoil and anticipatory measures. This was conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

"Defense issues are vital to the survival of the nation and state," Cabinet Secretary Teddy said in an official broadcast from the Cabinet Secretariat confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday, sharing one of the President's directives during a limited meeting on defense and security in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, as reported by ANTARA on Saturday, August 2.

During the limited meeting, President Prabowo spoke directly with Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who sat to the President's right, and with TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, who sat to the President's left.

The TNI Commander, as shown in photos distributed by the Presidential Secretariat, was seen taking notes on the points of President Prabowo's directives.

The meeting was also attended by TNI leaders and other high-ranking Ministry of Defense officials, who sat together in a round table. Beside the TNI Commander were Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, and Deputy Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Tandyo Budi Revita.

Next to Defense Minister Sjafrie were the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M. Herindra, the Head of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) Lieutenant General Yudi Abrimantyo, and the Head of the Defense Facilities Agency at the Ministry of Defense Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari.

Across from the President were Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who also attended the meeting and listened directly to President Prabowo's directives to the TNI, Ministry of Defense, and BIN leadership.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy continued, explaining to the leaders of the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) during the meeting that President Prabowo had also explained the meaning of true independence, particularly in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence. The President emphasized that defense strength is not only a symbol of sovereignty, but also key to protecting the nation's natural resources.

"If a country desires true independence, if a country desires prosperity, it must have the strength to protect itself, including protecting all its natural resources," Cabinet Secretary Teddy said, sharing President Prabowo's message to state officials in the defense and security sector during the meeting in Hambalang.
