Long Weekend! August 18, 2025 Designated As Holiday Day

JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially designated August 18, 2025 as a national holiday, which falls a day after the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence.

This announcement was made by the Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg), Juri Ardiantoro, in his statement at the Presidential Office, Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, on Friday, August 1.

"There is one more gift, this is a lot of gifts in the month of independence. The government will make August 18, 2025, one day after the proclamation second commemoration ceremony, the People's Party, the Independence Carnival, Monday, August 18, 2025 as the day off," said the jury.

The jury explained that the determination of this holiday is a form of government appreciation to the community, as well as part of a series of celebrations of Indonesian independence.

According to him, with this additional holiday given, the public will have more space and time to organize various activities, including competitions and other commemoration events in order to enliven the Indonesian Independence Day.

"So we also urge people to do or revive competitions that encourage creativity," he said.

The jury also emphasized that the celebration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia is not only celebrated at the national level, but also needs to be carried out lively in all regions in the country.

The government also invites all levels of society, from the central government, regional governments, educational institutions, BUMN, BUMD, to the private sector to be actively involved in this independence warning.
