JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung welcomed the Jakarta U-12 Student Football Team, the champions of the 2025 Dana Cup in Denmark, representing Indonesia.

The Dana Cup is a world-class youth football competition. This year, the competition attracted more than 995 teams from 56 countries. In the boys' age group of 12, there were a total of 61 teams from 25 countries with 667 players.

"This is truly a prestigious championship. I really didn't expect the U-12s to win," said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, July 31.

In winning the title, the Jakarta U-12 Student Football Team scored 55 goals without conceding.

"I myself am incredibly impressed. They scored 55 goals in total. Even the main goalkeeper managed to keep clean sheets multiple times," Pramono said.

"I was joking, 'Maybe you should go to a shaman first to prevent yourself from conceding goals,'" Pramono continued jokingly.

Based on these achievements, Pramono sees them as capable of developing their talents into adulthood and potentially joining the Persija Jakarta football club.

"We hope the coaching will continue so that in the future these players will become the seeds for Persija," said Pramono.

Continuing, Andri Yansyah, Head of the Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency, acknowledged that many of these U-12 athletes dream of playing for Persija.

"Because Persija is the biggest club in Jakarta, even though they come from various SSB (soccer schools). But if you ask them, they want to play for Persija," said Andri.

Furthermore, these young footballers also hope to participate again in the Dana Cup U-13 competition next year.

"They certainly maintain their desire to participate with the U-13s next year. However, we are still giving other athletes the opportunity to be re-selected. This provides an equal opportunity for all athletes," he concluded.
