Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Asks The Tangkas Regional Government To Overcome Forest And Land Fires, Especially The South Sumatra Provincial Government

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan asked local governments, especially the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of South Sumatra (Sumsel), to increase readiness in handling forest and land fires (karhutla).

"Through Desk Karhutla actively to encourage and strengthen the general government and especially the South Sumatra Regional Government to carry out early handling with the online coordination meeting which began in early 2025," said Budi Gunawan in an official press release received by Antara in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 30, confiscated by Antara.

According to the man who is familiarly called BG, the readiness of handling from local governments must be carried out because forest and land fires in the South Sumatra region are increasingly occurring.

Moreover, currently, South Sumatra is one of the areas designated as emergency areas for forest and land fires by the government.

Therefore, BG encourages local governments to collaborate with all parties to reduce fires so as not to spread.

Not only reducing fires, but BG also asked local governments to carry out the process of evacuating residents or repairing post-fire land.

"I appreciate the collaboration and cooperation that has been carried out in South Sumatra Province, both with central agencies and agencies in the regions as well as corporations and the community," explained BG.

BG hopes that with serious handling from local governments, forest and land fires in South Sumatra can be overcome so that residents can carry out their activities comfortably.

"Let us mobilize our best capacity to protect the people, the environment, and the credibility of Indonesia in the eyes of the international community," concluded BG.
