Fishing Around Tongkang In Mahakam River, Samarinda Residents Lost Found Lifeless

The joint SAR team found a body that had previously disappeared due to drowning after falling on the Mahakam River, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.

"The victim, on behalf of Faisal Nur (35), a resident of Samarinda Ulu, Samarinda City, was found dead at 08.25 WITA earlier, only about 10 meters from the initial location of the incident," said SAR Post Coordinator Samarinda Mardi Sianturi in Samarinda, Monday, July 28, confiscated by Antara.

This incident began in the early hours of Sunday, July 27, when the victim and two of his colleagues were on guard at the pier and monitoring the activities of residents fishing around the barge.

However, about an hour later the victim did not return to the post, then monitored through CCTV footage and it was discovered that the victim fell into the river which then drowned.

The location of the incident was around PT Titian Kaltim Pier, the waters of Mahakam River, Loa Janan District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.

This incident was then reported to the Samarinda SAR Post. After receiving the report, then at 13.50 WITA the team immediately went to the scene.

The search operation was carried out by the joint SAR Team by combing the river surface and doing dives around the LKP area, including utilizing technology support in the form of thermal drones.

"After two days of searching, the victim was found by the joint SAR Team. The victim's body this morning was immediately evacuated to IA Moeis Hospital Samarinda using an ambulance," said Mardi.

He appreciated all parties involved in the implementation of the SAR operation, from elements of the TNI, Polri, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), volunteers, the community, to the company.

"Thank you to all the elements involved. Solid collaboration between agencies plays an important role in the success of this operation. We also express our condolences for the disaster experienced by the families of the victims," said Mardi.
