The Freedom Fleet Coalition (Freedom Flotilla Coalition) on Friday night said a number of drones were seen flying aboard the Handala aid ship bound for Gaza.

This raises concerns about possible interceptions from Israel or NATO.

"In the last 45 minutes, 16 drones were seen flying over Handala, several pairs, several directly aboard the ship," the coalition said in a statement on Telegram.

French National Assembly member Gabrielle Cathala, who is one of 21 international activists on board, issued a voicemail entitled "Day 6," warning of a potential attack in the coming hours or the next morning.

"We are united, with full solidarity, and ready. Drones have started to emerge. If Wi-Fi is cut off, strange things can happen. Don't worry about us. Think about the Palestinian people. They are suffering. The genocide they are experiencing is much worse than any risk we face here," he said.

Earlier this week, the coalition reported a two-hour loss of communication aboard a Handala ship, in which several drones were seen circling the ship.

Although contacts were later restored, the group said the drone's activity raised concerns over possible interventions.

The previous statement noted that "All contact with our crew in Handala is missing, and some drones are visible nearby. This could mean they have been intercepted or attacked."

Handala departed Italy Harbor on July 13 and then completed final preparations at Gallipoli between July 15 and 20.

The ship carrying baby, food, and medicine formula milk continued its journey on July 20 with 21 civilians on board, all unarmed and carrying out these actions according to maritime and international humanitarian law.

The ship is currently on its way to the Gaza Strip as part of an international civil society mission to break the Israeli blockade and deliver aid to save the lives of Gazans.
