JAKARTA - Fighting on the Thai-Kamboja border entered its third day of Saturday's pad when both sides sought diplomatic support.

Recent data, 30 people were killed and more than 130,000 people displaced in the worst fighting between the two neighboring countries in Southeast Asia in 13 years.

The Thai Navy said there were clashes in the coastal province of Trat on Saturday, July 26, early in the morning, a new frontline more than 100 km (60 miles) from other conflict points along the long-contracted border.

The two countries have been arguing since the death of a Cambodian soldier in late May in a brief battle. Troops on both sides of the border were strengthened amid an increasingly severe diplomatic crisis that brought the fragile Thai coalition government to the brink of collapse.

The death toll in Thailand remained 19 on Saturday. Cambodia's Defense Ministry spokesman Maly Socheata said five soldiers and eight civilians were killed in the fighting.

In the Kanthralak district, the province of Leaveket, Thailand, on the border near the site of the clashes, hotel workers Chianuwat Thalalai said the city was empty.

"Almost everyone is gone, this city is almost quiet," the 31-year-old told Reuters.

"My hotel is still open to some people who live near the border and need a place to stay," he said.

Thailand's ambassador to the United Nations said in a Security Council meeting on Friday that soldiers had been injured by newly planted landmines in the Thai region twice since mid-July.

Thailand accused Cambodia of launching an attack on Thursday morning.

"Thailand urges Cambodia to immediately stop all hostilities and acts of aggression, and resume dialogue with good faith," Cherdchai Civaividid told the council in a statement released to the media.
