Panic Caught Stealing, 16-year-old Boy Dies After Jumping From 3rd Floor Jakut Islamic Center Building

JAKARTA - A teenager with the initials ASH (16) died after jumping from the third floor of the Jakarta Islamic Center (JIC) Koja Mosque, North Jakarta, Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2025. The reckless action was carried out by ASH after he was caught stealing copper at the Islamic Center building, known as the Jakarta Islamic Study and Development Center (PPPIJ).

The perpetrators of this theft were two people with the initials ASH and AAL (15), the two perpetrators were caught stealing by security forces and cleaning staff.

He said the location on the third floor of the mosque was the location of the fire some time ago. There was a lot of yellow and copper from the coating of the mosque dome which was burned down two years ago.

According to Andry, when they were about to carry out their actions, the two children were caught by the security forces and the cleaning staff.

Officers chased the perpetrators to the third floor and the two children panicked. The perpetrator ASH ran towards the wall and jumped from the third floor and ended up dead.

However, security officers and cleaning staff did not know that ASH had jumped down. The two officers were busy chasing the perpetrator AAL who was running slower behind him, the perpetrator of ASH.

"The perpetrator AAL ran more recently. At the time, he wanted to jump, he was also detained by security officers," said Andry.

Mosque security officers immediately took AAL into the building so as not to follow his colleague jumping from the third floor.

Meanwhile, another janitor who was sitting downstairs heard a loud noise when ASH fell.

"Other cleaning officers who sat not far from the location were surprised to hear the sound of 'fight', so ASH was seen dying and dying," he said.

At around 17.54 WIB, ASH's body was just evacuated using an ambulance to be taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.

The cleaning staff of the mosque immediately cleaned the remaining blood at the location where the police lines had been installed.
