JAKARTA - From the results of the officer's examination of the four perpetrators, it is known that the syndicate of counterfeit oil circulation and production in packaging in Kembangan, West Jakarta, has been in action for 5 years with a turnover of IDR 3.6 billion.

In previous reports, it was known that the four perpetrators who are now named as suspects, namely SK (47), SR (46), WS (32), and MF (21) produced counterfeit oil from used oil mixed with paraffin, then repackaged with packaging and stickers resembling well-known brands.

"The suspect SK has been running a business since 2023 with a profit of Rp. 30 million per month. Meanwhile, the suspect SR has been in action since 5 years ago, reaping a total profit of around Rp. 3.6 billion," said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Twedi Aditya Bennyahdi, Thursday 24 July 2025.

The syndicate of counterfeit oil counterfeiters is fairly neat. Used oil is collected from various regions such as Pulo Gebang, East Jakarta.

Then used oil is put into the drum, mixed with paraffin, and repackaged using a new bottle and print stickers themselves.

"They study the technique self-taught via YouTube. Production is carried out in a closed place," he said.

Within a month, the perpetrators were able to produce hundreds of bottles of counterfeit oil which were then sold to workshops in Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bekasi at a lower price than the original oil, which was below Rp. 200 thousand.

"This fake oil can endanger vehicle engines and harm consumers," he said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 120 of Law no. 3 of 2014 concerning Industry, Article 113 of Law no. 7 of 2014 concerning Trade, and Article 62 in conjunction with Article 8 of Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection.

West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Deputy, Kompol Raden Dwi Kennardi Dewanto Prathista said the disclosure began with a resident's report in mid-July 2025 which suspected that the production and distribution of oil was suspected to be fake.

"From the results of the investigation, we found a suspicious location of the sale. We also arrested three perpetrators with the initials SK, MR, and WS who were carrying out counterfeiting activities," said Deputy Chief of Staff, Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
