YOGYAKARTA - The Student Executive Board (BEM) is an intra-campus organization that has an important role in representing student voices and is the driving force for various activities within universities. As the highest level student organization on campus, BEM has an organized structure and consists of various elements that systematically cooperate.

The organizational structure of BEM is generally hierarchical and functional. The goal is that the implementation of work programs, conveying aspirations, and coordination between members can run effectively. More specifically, here is an explanation of the general structure of BEM organizations and their duties:

The President of BEM is accompanied by the Student Vice President who has the main task of helping and replacing the president when unable to attend. The vice president is also usually responsible for coordinating inter-department relations so that work programs run in harmony.

Under the president and vice president, there is a general secretary and general treasurer. The general secretary is tasked with managing organizational administration, such as correspondence, meeting minutes, archive data collection, and arranging activity schedules.

Meanwhile, the general treasurer has a responsibility in regulating and reporting organizational finances. Treasurer must record BEM's income and expenditure, make regular financial reports, and ensure that funds are used according to work program needs.

One of the hallmarks of the BEM organizational structure is the existence of a department or so-called ministry, depending on the structure of each campus. Each department has a different focus on work according to its field.

In several BEMs at the faculty or major universities, there are also expert staff positions, namely people who have certain competencies and provide strategic input for BEM president. In addition, in vertical structures such as BEM Universitas and BEM Faculty, there are usually regional or field coordinators who bridge between levels of organization.

Staff are students who are directly involved in implementing work programs under the direction of the head of the department. They became the spearhead of BEM in carrying out various activities designed by the organization. The number of staff varies depending on the needs of the department and work programs.

The organizational structure of BEM is designed so that organizational work runs systematically and efficiently. Each section has its interconnected roles and responsibilities.
