Fire Spike In Jakarta 2025: 951 Incidents In Six Months

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) recorded as many as 951 fire cases that occurred in Jakarta from January 1, 2025 to July 20, 2025.

Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Section, Mohammad Arief, said that of the nearly a thousand cases of fires during the first half of 2025, the most incidents were in West Jakarta.

"West Jakarta is the area with the highest number of fires, reaching 260 cases, followed by East Jakarta with 242 cases, and South Jakarta with 200 cases," Arief told reporters, Tuesday, July 22.

Then, there were 118 cases of fires in northern Jakarta and 1 case in the Thousand Islands.

Meanwhile, the highest intensity burning object was residential building 345 events. Then, public buildings and 197 trading incidents, as well as 42 incidents of vehicles.

Arief continued, the main cause of the fire was still dominated by electric short circuits, which were 635 cases. Other factors include 135 cases of gas, 39 cases of wax, and 32 cases of cigarettes.

Furthermore, the Gulkarmat Service noted that the area affected by the 2025 fire reached a total of 110,044 square meters.

The fire case with the highest nominal loss was a fire at Glodok Plaza, West Jakarta amounting to Rp90.9 billion.

So far, the fire incident that occurred during mid-2025 has affected 2,248 families (KK) and 8,682 people.

"There were 26 victims who died and 68 were injured," he added.
