Central Jakarta District Court Affirms Tom Lembong's Verdict Without Pressure Until Political Issues

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Andi Saputra, stated that the verdict or verdict handed down to the former Minister of Trade (Mendag) Thomas Trikasih Lembong, Tom Lembong's eyebrows, had been based on the facts of the trial and without any pressure.

In the case of alleged corruption in sugar imports, it is known that the panel of judges sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 750 million.

"We only appeal to the public, reaffirming that the decision was taken purely based on legal facts," Andi said in his statement, Monday, July 21.

Not only that, the panel of judges also did not look for the truth outside the court. In fact, there is no pressure or other political element.

"The panel of judges is not contaminated, does not explore the facts outside the court, is it pressure, are they political issues and so on. That is the most important thing, not based on intervention or other pressures," he said.

Andi also asked the public to respond to various issues circulating more carefully by reading the panel's various considerations behind the decision.

Thus, it will be seen that the verdict given to Tom Lembong has fulfilled the principle of justice for all Indonesian people.

"In responding to various issues on social media, in various other media, we only ask the public to read in full, not only what makes it easier or not only burdensome, but read in a balanced manner so that they can get an outline of the common thread why the decision was handed down," he said.

On the other hand, Andi asked the public to be patient and follow the continuation of the judicial process. This is because Tom Lembong is known to be filing an appeal against the decision given.

"We ask the whole community to be patient because the legal process is moderate and is still ongoing for parties who are not satisfied to wait because they can be given the opportunity to file an appeal," said Andi.
