JAKARTA - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has prepared a budget of IDR 90 billion for the free private school program in 40 appointed schools.
Special Staff to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for Public Communication, Cyril Total Hakim alias Chico Hakim explained that the budget was taken from the Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
"The rest is waiting for the Revised APBD which will be knocked at the DPRD later this month," Chico said when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday, July 17.
Regarding the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) regarding free private schools, Chico said it would be ratified no later than the next two months.
At least 2 months. The process of preparing legal products is still ongoing in the service with the legal bureau," Chico said.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government submitted a Amendment to the APBD in the Plenary Meeting with the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Wednesday (16/7).
In his speech at the meeting, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno said that the total Draft Amendment to the 2025 Fiscal Year budget amounted to IDR 91.86 trillion, an increase of 0.57 percent compared to the APBD Determination for Fiscal Year 2025 of IDR 91.34 trillion.
Meanwhile, the free private school program in Jakarta has started to coincide with the new school year, although the governor's regulation on this matter has not been ratified.
Secretary of the DKI Jakarta Education Office (Disdik), Taga Radja Gah explained that this was done with the aim that every child could start going to school. Taga also explained that this decision was made after discussing with the appointed private school.
"If you wait for the governor's regulation first, you won't go to school, it's a pity. That's why we had a meeting with private schools yesterday. The governor's regulation doesn't exist yet, but God willing, we will continue to process it," said Taga.

After discussing with 40 private schools participating in the free school program, Taga said that all of them agreed with the decision even though there was no governor's regulation.
"For payments, they are waiting for the governor's regulation, and they understand. This is a collaboration between the community and the local government. Actually, this is to help areas that do not have public schools," said Taga.
