MEDAN - The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) recommended to the local government to close three nightclubs that were allegedly used as locations for drug trafficking.

"We recommend to local governments to close and revoke the operational permits of three nightclubs that are the centers for drug trafficking," said North Sumatra Police Narcotics Investigation Director Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak in Medan, Tuesday, July 15, as reported by ANTARA.

The three nightclubs, namely the initials S 21 in Pematangsiantar City, D KTV & C in Medan Sunggal District, and D KTV in West Medan District, Medan City.

According to him, the three locations of the nightclubs were in the public spotlight on social media, because they were strongly suspected of being the location of narcotics transactions that triggered residents' unrest and had the potential to become another crime-prone point.

This was proven by the North Sumatra Police by arresting two perpetrators with the initials RS and JS who confiscated 97 ecstasy pills, 15 happy five pills and Rp9 million in cash from the sale at S 21 in April 2025.

Then, D KTV & C was arrested by reporters with the initials RD with evidence of 10 ecstasy pills, and 18 of the 19 visitors tested positive for drugs.

As well as D KTV, officers confiscated as many as 708 ecstasy pills and 25 bottles of ketamina, and arrested two perpetrators Z and RG in May 2025.

"Various venues that become drug dens should not be allowed to operate. This is an important step to save the younger generation and maintain order," he said.
