JAKARTA - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suffered a minor leg injury while fleeing Israeli airstrikes last month, Iran's semi-official Fars news agency reported.
The alleged attack took place on June 16 against a secure government facility in Western Tehran, where President Pezeshkian was holding a meeting with other senior officials, according to news agencies managed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported by Fox News July 14.
The alleged attack was said to have occurred on the fourth day of the 12-day war between Israel and Iran.
Six bombs or missiles are reportedly targeting entry and exit points to obstruct efforts to evacuate the building where President Pezeshkian is located and disrupt the airflow in it, as well as the power outflow on the targeted floor is cut off, according to the report.
Officials fled through the emergency exit, according to the report, with President Pezeshkian and several others reportedly suffering minor leg injuries while fleeing.
The report claims the attack was similar to Israel's plan to lead to the assassination of Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, in September last year.
Israel itself said its military targeted several Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists in a series of airstrikes aimed at preventing the regime from realizing its goal of producing nuclear weapons.
