PEKANABARU Riau Bhayangkara Run (RBR) 2025 national-scale running event was successfully held with great fanfare on Sunday morning, July 13. This event recorded a record number of participants with a total of 13,079 runners from various regions, including 12 foreign participants who came from Kenya, France, the United States, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Known as the largest half marathon on the island of Sumatra, the RBR 2025 was officially certified by World Athletics with registration numbers INA2025/156 (5K), INA2025/157 (10K), and INA2025/158 (21K), valid until December 31, 2029. This places RBR as an international level running event with global recognition.

The event was opened directly by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo who released participants for the 5K and 10K categories. Meanwhile, the participants of the 21K Half Marathon were symbolically released by the Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryyawan with Riau Governor Abdul Wahid. The starting point and finish are concentrated at the Riau Police Headquarters, which has been crowded with thousands of participants and spectators from an early morning.

The lively atmosphere is not only felt on the race track, but also in the people's entertainment area. This event was enlivened by the Little Police attraction, the Malay ethnic music performance, as well as the appearance of the Type-X music group which successfully entertained participants and visitors.

The National Police Chief on the occasion was accompanied by a number of main officials from the National Police Headquarters such as Irwasum Komjen Dedi Prasetyo, Head of Public Relations Division Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, and Kakorlantas Inspector General Agus Suryo Nugroho. Also present were national figures Rocky Gerung and the Riau Forkopimda ranks, including elements of the TNI, the Attorney General's Office, DPRD, and the High Court.

Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryyawan emphasized that the 2025 RBR was not just a commemoration of the 79th Bhayangkara Day ceremonial, but had a significant social and economic impact.

"This event provides a strong multiplier effect. It is recorded that 54 MSME actors participated, offering culinary, craft, and fashion products. Hotel occupancy rates in Pekanbaru also increased sharply ahead of the event," said the Kapolda.

Furthermore, he said the success of RBR 2025 was proof of Riau's readiness to host national to international events, both in terms of infrastructure, security, and community enthusiasm.

Not only focusing on sports and economic aspects, RBR 2025 also carries environmental missions through the Green Policing campaign. In this initiative, the Riau Police invites the public to implement environmentally friendly habits and build sustainable ecological awareness through a humanist and collaborative approach.

"We want RBR to be part of changing lifestyles that are healthy, environmentally caring, and productive. This is not just a competition, but part of a broad-impact social transformation," said Herry.

Riau Bhayangkara Run 2025 was also closed with the message that collaboration between state institutions, local governments, and the community was able to produce major changes. An important momentum for Riau, both in the national sport tourism map, as well as as an example of integration between sports, the economy, and environmental awareness.
