JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has confirmed that it will run a trial of the free school program by targeting 40 private education units from 5 administrative city areas.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Nahdiana, revealed that the selection of free private schools refers to the priority areas of urban villages that do not have public schools.
However, Nahdiana has not been able to confirm the exact time for the implementation of the free private school program.
"This free school program collaborates with private schools where all financing is borne by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government so that students can attend 40 schools for free until the study period is over," said Nahdiana in her statement, Friday, July 11.
Nahdiana revealed that the implementation of new student admissions at SPMB in DKI Jakarta was carried out online and the selection results were announced in real time. Thus, it does not allow deposits and all.
"If irregularities are found in the field, immediately report them to the call center and SPMB posts in 5 city areas or the Education Office post. Every proven violation will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations," explained Nahdiana.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that the DKI Provincial Government was still waiting for the issuance of a presidential regulation as the basis for implementing the free private school program in Jakarta.
According to Pramono, there needs to be an official instruction from President Prabowo Subianto to implement free schools in the regions. Given, this discourse has become the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which ordered the government to carry it out.
"We're waiting for the Presidential Decree. Yesterday it was just the Constitutional Court's decision, but for Jakarta itself it's not too much of a problem, right," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, July 9.

The new academic year 2025/2026 which will start on July 14 is just a matter of days. Meanwhile, the discourse on testing the implementation of free schools has not been made clear. So, it is not certain that the DKI Provincial Government will run free schools this year.
"Because the Jakarta government has prepared 40 private schools for free school trials, but we are waiting for the Presidential Decree first, then we will continue," said Pramono.
