Central Java Police Unload Fake Fertilizer Factory In Boyolali

Central Java Police dismantled a factory suspected of making counterfeit fertilizers that had been operating in Boyolali Regency for about five years.

Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Arif Budiman, said the fake fertilizer factory had a production capacity of 260 to 400 tons per month.

He said the circulation of fertilizers whose content did not match the composition stated in the packaging stemmed from complaints from farmers about the existence of fertilizers that were suspected to be fake.

"Investigators then trace the origin of the fertilizer that is known to be stored in a warehouse in Karanganyar Regency," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, July 10.

From the warehouse, he continued, investigators found a manufacturing factory in the Boyolali Regency area.

"From the results of laboratory checking, it is known that the content in the fertilizer produced does not match the composition in the packaging," he said.

He gave an example of one of the Enviro brands with Nitrogen, Fosfor, and Kalium contents, which are all below 1 percent.

In fact, he continued, the composition listed on the packaging label is entirely above 10 percent.

In the disclosure of the inorganic fake fertilizer factory, the police have named TS, ECP Wing CV Director, as a suspect.

He said the ECP Wing CV actually had complete licensing and pocketed SNI.

The counterfeit fertilizer products, he continued, have been circulating in various regions in Central Java.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection.
