JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized that Jakarta is no longer the most congested city in Indonesia. This condition is thanks to the development of public transportation affordability that the DKI Provincial Government continues to carry out.

Pramono said Jakarta is in fifth place in the city with the most congestion in Indonesia. The recommendation is the results of the TomTom Traffic Index survey as of 2024 made by the Dutch navigation device company, TomTom.

"What Jakarta has been ranked 1st in Indonesia, now it is ranked 5. This means that what we plan to do with Trans Jabodetabek and the improvement has improved," said Pramono at the Galunggung Transjakarta Bus Stop, Jakarta, Thursday, July 3.

In the survey, TomTom revealed that the most congested city in Indonesia in 2025 is Bandung with an average travel speed of up to 10 kilometers taking 32 minutes 37 seconds, followed by Medan City with an average travel speed of 32 minutes 3 seconds.

Then, Palembang City with an average travel speed per 10 kilometers takes 27 minutes 55 seconds, Surabaya City with a time of 26 minutes 59 seconds, and Jakarta with a time of 25 minutes 31 seconds.

In addition, Jakarta is also out of the top ranks of the most congested cities in the world according to the TomTom survey version. In 2023, Jakarta is ranked 30th most congested cities in the world from 386 cities. Then in 2024, Jakarta will rank 90th in the world's most congested cities.

"So, it means that there is really an improvement in transportation in Jakarta. Indeed, the increase is significant, people who use public transportation," said Pramono.

Therefore, Pramono said the government continues to improve connectivity in public transportation so that congestion in Jakarta can be more decomposed. Today, Pramono inaugurated a new route for Transjabodetabek, namely the direction of Bekasi' Dukuh Atas (B25).

In this route, there are 15 bus units prepared with a 10-minute inter-headway time interval during peak hours and 20 minutes during peak hours. This route has 18 points in Jakarta and 11 points in Bekasi.

"Travel time at peak hours is about 100 minutes in the morning, peak hours are 95 minutes in the afternoon, and at peak hours it is around 82.5 minutes," said Governor Pramono.

"Although our connectivity level has reached 91 percent, its use has not been maximized. Hopefully, future planning to overcome congestion can be more detailed and comprehensive," he said.
