The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast, stated that his party had deployed ships and personnel from the Polairud Directorate of the East Java Police to assist the search process in Banyuwangi waters.

Abast explained that KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya carried 53 passengers and 12 crew members or crew members. Four people managed to survive, while 61 passengers were still missing.
