JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) has implemented a free visit visa policy for foreign nationals (foreigners) who hold Brazilian and Turkish passports starting July 3.

Acting Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration Yuldi Yusman said the granting of visit visas or BVK was carried out based on a coordinated evaluation with the relevant ministries/agencies.

"The main considerations that underlie the provision of BVK for Brazil and Turkey include the two countries that have already provided BVK for Indonesian citizens," said Yuldi as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 2.

This policy is stipulated through Ministerial Regulation of Imipas Number 9 of 2025, based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 95 of 2024 concerning Visa Free Visits.

Article 2 paragraph (3) of the Presidential Decree stipulates that the BVK is given by taking into account the principle of reciprocity and the principle of benefits, state security, tourism, economy and investment, and/or other aspects determined by the President.

The BVK validity period is 30 days and cannot be extended or transferred to other types of residence permits. Foreigners holding BVK can use their residence permits for tourist purposes, business meetings, and treatment.

Yuldi emphasized that the implementation of BVK will be carried out selectively.

He said the Directorate General of Immigration supports economic development by ensuring that only qualified foreigners and have contributions come to Indonesia.

"We continue to strengthen the supervision of foreigners and continuously evaluate the implementation of BVK so that it remains in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," said Yuldi.
