Blong Brake Truck Hits Cars In Cianjur, 4 People Are Seriously Injured

The Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, noted that four motorcyclists suffered serious injuries after being hit by a truck without cargo who was suspected of having failed brakes on Jalan Raya Cianjur-Cipanas.

The Head of Law Enforcement of the Cianjur Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Ika Cakra, said that his party was still conducting an investigation regarding the exact cause of a series of collisions involving a number of vehicles and allegedly due to the failed brake experienced by a truck without the number B 9088 KY.

"We are still conducting investigations and conducting crime scene investigations to determine the cause of the accident that resulted in four motorcyclists being seriously injured. All victims have been taken to the Sayang Hospital, Cianjur," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 2.

Meanwhile, the truck driver was immediately secured by residents after hitting a number of motorcyclists who were driving in front of him. As a result, 2 kilometers of traffic flow from both directions Cianjur and Cipanas experienced total traffic jams.

Police officers directed motorists to take the Gombong-Lbangansari alternative route through Cugenang because the process of evacuating truck carcasses took quite a long time and had to use heavy equipment.

"We direct motorists with the aim of Cipanas or vice versa to Cianjur to take the alternative route to Gombong-Lbangansari through Cugenang or vice versa from Cipanas entering Mangunkerta-Cugunang through Gombong-Cianjur," he said.

Information gathered from eyewitnesses from local residents and motorists said the truck without cargo was traveling at a high enough speed when crossing Jalan Raya Cianjur-Cipanas, precisely in Limbangsari Village, and had swerved to the left and hit a car parked on the side of the road.

After hitting the car, the uncontrolled traveling truck hit a number of motorcyclists again and bounced to the side of the road. The truck finally stopped and fell after crashing into a food stall.

"I followed the truck from behind and did not dare to overtake because the speed was very fast, plus the driver turned on the hazard light. I suspect the truck had failed brakes and it was true that the truck hit the car and four motorbikes," said an eye witness, Sandi (32).

He saw four motorbike riders lying on the side of the road after being hit by the truck.

"Four motorbike riders were immediately taken to the Cianjur Sayang Hospital. At first glance, they were still alive, but suffered serious injuries, their motorbike was badly damaged," he said.
