DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster said the one-graduate family program scheme would be announced next week.
"Now that the team is discussing the mechanism, I think next week it will be exposed for recruitment (students) in August," said Koster, Wednesday, July 2.
To run this program, the Bali Provincial Government has collaborated with 20 universities, where lecture financing apart from campus will also be supported by using the Bali Provincial Budget.
This program is targeted to start with student admissions this year, because previously Governor Koster had communicated with higher education leaders throughout Bali and formed a working team.
"It will depend on the number, the target is that this year 3,000 students, do not know how many poor families will achieve with concrete data, their names, home addresses, family conditions, what the photos will be, it will be prepared by the social service," said Governor Koster.
In the inauguration agenda at the Denpasar Open University (UT) campus, Koster said he had mapped the agreed quota with universities.
The number that can be accommodated by each campus is 100-200 students with the hope that one of them, namely the Open University, can be more than that number.
"If UT doesn't use age, but in other places for new graduates, this is especially for the closest environment in Denpasar, also far from Jembrana, Bangli, Karangasem, or in the regions so they can learn from their place, right if it's open, it's possible to stay long distances," he said as quoted by ANTARA.
Based on the discussion with the chancellors, in the one undergraduate family program, there are several schemes, one of which is the campus accommodating students by fully free of tuition fees.
Universities can take advantage of the share of the Indonesia Smart program for prospective students whose families do not yet have a bachelor's degree and have the intention to study.
Other schemes for universities provide subsidies of Rp. 500 thousand per semester, then the cost of student life is borne by the Bali Provincial Government.
"The boss, his monthly life, borne by the Bali Regional Budget, is sharing, and this will begin to be implemented in 2025, August, starting from the new school year," said the governor.

If the one-graduate family program succeeds, according to him, it will build Bali's superior human resources and increase harsh participation in universities.
From his records, the gross participation rate for admission to universities in Bali is still below 40 percent, while the target is to reach 50 percent.
"In this second period in order to accelerate the number of harsh participation in universities, they must accelerate in Bali, and graduates of SMA/SMK in 2025 are more than 61 thousand," said Koster.
