PANGKALPINANG - Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Hidayat Arsani, removed the Director of RSUD Dr (HC) Ir Soekarno, Babel Islands from his position, as a result of the 17 ventilators at the hospital being lost.

"This is a sanction, because it involves people's lives," said Hidayat Arsani in Pangkalpinang, Tuesday, July 1, as reported by ANTARA.

A total of 17 ventilators, medical devices that help patients breathe at Dr (HC) Ir Soekarno Hospital, Babel Islands, have an impact on hospital services to the people in Serupun Sebalai Country.

In addition, the loss of respiratory medical devices for patients at this hospital is also detrimental to state finances. One unit of ventilator costs more than Rp. 300 million and if multiplied by 17 units, the loss suffered will reach more than Rp. 5 billion.

"Until today, this ventilator has not been found. Therefore, I am not the director of this hospital," he said.

He stated that this ventilator is a very vital medical device to save the patient's life, which can result in the lives of others being lost because the medical equipment is not available.

"If other tools that are not important can still be overcome, but if there are no ventilators, it is certainly difficult to overcome, because this tool is very vital," he said.

The 17 ventilator units have been missing for more than a year, but the RSUD has not followed up or made efforts to search for this medical device.

"So far, this tool has been lost, how come the hospital is not working on it. If the engine is lost that is not important, it doesn't matter, but this ventilator is gone and this is very vital," he said.
