JAKARTA - The Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah asked workers not to go hometown, to comply with the provisions imposed by the government to reduce the number of COVID-19 transmissions.

"We have learned a lot from the case of the COVID-19 spike in India and new variants, so I invite beside 3M to also do 2M, avoiding crowds and reducing mobility," she said after reviewing vaccination services for workers at the Ministry of Manpower Office, Jakarta, Tuesday.

Increased mobility of residents during the Lebaran homecoming period can cause a spike in cases of COVID-19 transmission, therefore Ida asked workers to postpone their homecoming.

"I invite all of us to temporarily postpone the Lebaran homecoming this time," she said.

Ida realized that delaying homecoming is not something easy. However, during a pandemic like now, the option to postpone homecoming must be taken for the health and safety of families in their hometown.

The government imposes a ban on Lebaran homecoming from 6 to 17 May 2021.

The Minister of Manpower has issued a circular to prevent private workers and Indonesian migrant workers from traveling back and forth Eid this year.
