JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Police arrested a man from Bandung, West Java who disguised himself as a doctor and deceived a number of women through a cyber crime of "love scamming" or fraud under the guise of love with a total loss of Rp250 million.
"The perpetrator used a false identity as a doctor named Christian Kwon and built an emotional relationship with the victim for months," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kombes Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 26.
The perpetrator with the initials MSP (29) was arrested in Bandung, West Java on June 11, 2025 after taking action from November 2023 to October 2024.
According to Wirdhanto, MSP communicated with the victims online through the introduction application and then continued via WhatsApp.

"The victim borrowed money from his brother, including pawning a laptop, pawning a motorbike, and so on," said Wirdhanto.
