Pramono Affirms Students In Jakarta Still Get KJP Despite Entering People's Schools

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta answered residents' concerns regarding the potential for the revocation of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) for students who will later enter the People's School. The free school initiated by President Prabowo has a dormitory concept for poor or extreme poor children.

Pramono emphasized that KJP will still be distributed to eligible students, even though the person concerned has received education at the People's School.

"The KJP is not (revocational). So the KJP is valid as long as he remains a student. Wherever the school is, the KJP will still be given," said Pramono in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Thursday, June 26.

Moreover, the benefits of assistance obtained from KJP recipients, Pramono emphasized, are not only in the form of education funds to buy school supplies. KJP holders students also receive other social assistance (bansos) such as cheap basic necessities.

"Because the KJP benefits are not only for students, but also for poor families. Because they can buy meat, buy rice, food, and so on from it," said Pramono.

In addition, Pramono admitted that the DKI Provincial Government has coordinated with the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the preparation for the implementation of the People's School in Jakarta. Pramono is ready to prepare land for the construction of the People's School.

"For Jakarta, it doesn't matter," he said.

For information, the People's School aims to provide access to quality and character education to break the chain of poverty. In this poverty alleviation scheme, parents are also involved. They will receive an empowerment program and their uninhabitable houses will be repaired.

The selection process for prospective People's School students does not involve academic tests, but through administrative verification and health checks. Although there is no administrative test, in the People's School learning process there will be a student talent search.

The student recruitment process is also carried out by involving various parties, from the Family Hope Program (PKH) companion, regional social services, education services, to BPS. All data is verified to ensure that only those who are truly entitled to enter are children from poor families who are in Desil 1 and 2 single national socio-economic data (DTSEN).

For the first phase, people's schools are scheduled to be launched in the coming new school year. Schools are prepared at 100 points for as many as 9,755 students. In planning, all first-stage students start the orientation period on July 14, 2025 and live in dormitories immediately.
