JAKARTA - France has criticized Israel's latest attack on civilians near the aid distribution center in Gaza, resulting in dozens of deaths.

"France condemns the Israeli attack that hit civilians gathered around the aid distribution center in Gaza last night, resulting in dozens of people being killed and injured," the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The statement reiterated France's "full support" against UN agencies and their humanitarian partners, underscoring that humanitarian aid "must not be exploited for political or military purposes."

"France urges the Israeli government to allow immediate, on a large scale, and without a hitch to humanitarian aid in Gaza," the foreign ministry said.

The statement further stated that France's priority was "an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and the release of all hostages unconditionally," adding that France was trying to achieve that goal.

"We must also build war alternatives, both for Palestinians and Israelis, to fulfill legitimate aspirations for Palestinians and to allow Israelis and Palestinians to live a peaceful and safe life. The momentum that we have started to reach an international conference to implement a two-state solution must continue - we are actively working on it", added the statement.

It was reported that 50 civilians, most of whom were people who tried to get food, were killed, and more than 200 others were injured as a result of Israel's latest attack on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

According to the United Nations Human Rights Office, 503 Palestinians seeking help have been killed and 3,000 others injured by Israeli fire in Gaza since 27 May.

Israel has rejected international calls for a ceasefire and the Zionist State forces have continued to carry out brutal attacks on Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 56,000 Palestinians, most of whom are women and children.

Earlier in November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for PM Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel is also facing genocide cases at the International Court of Justice against its aggression in the area.
