Middle East Mocks, Garuda Temporarily Stops Jakarta-Doha Route

JAKARTA - Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. said the Jakarta - Doha, Qatar travel route would be temporarily suspended until conditions in the Middle East region allowed it to be passed.

Garuda Indonesia Commercial Director Ade R. Susardi said the airline was paying attention to the safety and comfort of passengers.

"Currently we will indeed see the situation, while we will stop it for about a week while paying fixed attention," said Ade as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 24.

Currently, his party continues to monitor developments. Indonesia wants to ensure security in the Middle East region first, so that travel home and leave can be guaranteed safety

"So our team will monitor the situation of all kinds when it is said it may be better. The body side will definitely fly again," he said.

Ade also explained that the Garuda plane on the Jakarta-Doha route was forced to make a U-turn on Monday (23/6), because then the airway was closed for the safety of citizens, residents and visitors.

The airline received this information after the Garuda plane had drove to Doha.

"Because he had flown, he was already told to the cockpit, then he returned to his plane. Then he returned last night, landed at KNO, in Medan, filled with gas, everything was just brought to Jakarta," he added.
