JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka shared his happiness by inviting 100 orphans and underprivileged from the Genteng District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, to shop for school needs.
The activity was carried out after the Vice President reviewed the women's empowerment program of Mekaar PNM at the RTH Maron Field, Banyuwangi, Monday, June 23.
The children who participated were representatives from five villages in Genteng District, namely Genteng Kulon Village, Genteng Wetan, Kaligondo, Setail, and Kembiritan.
Each village sent 20 children. They were accompanied directly by representatives of families and village officials. Shopping for school supplies is carried out as a tangible form of synergy in social and economic empowerment.
The items purchased include notebooks, rulers, and color pencils which will later be used to support the children's learning needs.
Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Social Service, Women's Empowerment and Family Planning (Dinsos PPKB) Henik Setyorini said this activity had a very positive impact on the psychology of the beneficiary children.
"What is certain is that it will have a very, very psychological impact on children. Happy children are happy, so it is a special motivation for them," said Henik.
The Banyuwangi Regency Government will adopt the concept of this activity to be integrated into ongoing social programs.
One of them is a program that will be carried out on July 7, when ASN and BUMN are encouraged to buy school needs from MSMEs to then be distributed to underprivileged children.
"Of course we will adopt this activity, we combine it with programs that previously existed in the Regency Government," said Henik.
