KPK Opens Call Opportunities For Former Minister Of Religion Yaqut Regarding Allegations Of Corruption In The 2024 Special Hajj Quota

JAKARTA - In investigating the alleged corruption case related to the special hajj quota in 2024, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is now opening up opportunities to summon former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

"Later, we will see the needs in the process of handling this case. However, of course, all parties who are suspected of knowing about the construction of the case will be questioned by the KPK," said KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, June 21.

In addition, Budi said the KPK opened the opportunity to summon the Special Committee (Pansus) for Hajj Angkat DPR RI which was formed to conduct an investigation into the implementation of the distribution and determination of additional Hajj quotas which were allegedly not in accordance with Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Hajj and Umrah.

"All parties will certainly be asked for information. Of course, the parties who are suspected of knowing from the construction of this case," he said.

Previously, the KPK also confirmed that it had invited and summoned a number of parties to be questioned in the investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, the KPK on September 10, 2024 revealed that it was ready to investigate allegations of gratification related to filling out the special hajj quota for the 2024 Hajj.

The KPK stated that this step was important so that the government, in this case the Ministry of Religion, could bring justice in the implementation of Hajj services without corruption.

On a different occasion, the Special Committee for Hajj Angkat DPR RI claimed to have found a number of irregularities that occurred in the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage in 2024.

The main point highlighted by the special committee is regarding the distribution of quotas 50: 50 at the allocation of 20,000 additional quotas given by Saudi Arabia.

At that time, the Ministry of Religion divided an additional 10,000 quota for regular Hajj and 10,000 for special Hajj.
