North Kalimantan Police Reveals Child Pornographic Content Case, Interpol Attention

TANJUNG SELOR - North Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) arrested two suspects in child pornography content, both with the initials IN (43) and NS (36).

Head of Public Relations of Polda Kaltara Kombes Pol Budi Rachmat said this case was revealed after the Kaltara Police received a letter from the Divhubinter Polri on May 5. Attached Crimes Against Children (CAC) Interpol along with 1 CD containing 50 photos of children.

"After receiving this attention, this case was investigated by the Sub-Directorate of Cyber Ditreskrimsus Polda Kaltara," said Kombes Budi Rahmat, Thursday (19/6/2025).

"Then, from the results of the investigation, pornographic photos were found taken in Tarakan City since 2017," he added.

He explained that the Police had also coordinated with the NCMEC (National Center fot Missing & Exploiting Children) and found 3 cybertoplines about children's content.

"The actions of the suspect IN were revealed on June 9, the Bantek Team Sub-Directorate V/Siber Ditreskrimsus Polda Kaltara together with the NGO team (Non Government Organization) Our Rescue to Samarinda to hunt down the perpetrators," said Budi.

Furthermore, at 18.00 WITA the team managed to secure the alleged perpetrator and found evidence (BB) which was sought by means of a search. Then, on June 13, 2025, the Bantek team from Sub-Directorate V/Siber Ditreskrimsus of the Kaltara Police, which had previously coordinated with the PPA Kaltara UPTD, headed to Tarakan to secure the NS suspect.

"The suspect's mode is dating online, then suspect IN asks suspect NS to send photos and videos containing formographic content to suspect IN asking the suspect NS to involve the suspect NS's biological child, who was then 3 years old, by showing a photo of his genitals," he explained.

He emphasized that as a result, the suspect was suspected of Article 29 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 37 or Article 32 in conjunction with Article 37 of Law (UU) Number 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.

"The team has succeeded in securing the suspect who committed the crime of child pornography and evidence," he said.

In addition, a fake Facebook account named Ipan Kz was found on the suspect IN's cellphone. The account used by the suspect was to get acquainted and establish an online relationship with the suspect NS.

"Both of them admitted that they had never met, the suspect IN admitted that he had collected photos and videos of child pornography to satisfy his sex fans with children," he explained.

Suspect IN also often downloads other child pornography content through an application called TOR to be able to access Dark WEB via suspect IN's cellphone.

He added that advances in digital technology can also have a negative impact. For this reason, Sub-Directorate V/Siber Ditreskrimsus Polda Kaltara reminded parents to provide supervision of their children, especially those who are minors, using technology facilities to minimize cyber crime.

"People in the North Kalimantan region must be careful in using social media and include or post their personal data and activities," he concluded.
