JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX DPR RI Nurhadi criticized the implementation of the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) program which was recently distributed in raw materials packages. Nurhadi was surprised that the modification of MBG distributed during school holidays was actually like a basic food distribution program.
Nurhadi assessed that the distribution of MBG packages in the form of raw materials should be an evaluation of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as an institution responsible for the priority program of President Prabowo Subianto's administration.
"I understand the good intentions of the MBG program which aims to improve the nutrition of the community. However, when its implementation creates public confusion, especially because aid is distributed in the form of raw materials without clear technical instructions, we need to evaluate it thoroughly," said Nurhadi, Thursday, June 19.
The distribution of raw materials in the MBG program occurred in a number of schools in South Tangerang. In photos circulating on social media, MBG packages can be seen consisting of oranges, bananas, salted fish, cyclone eggs, rice, and peanuts, all of which are not processed.
"If it's like this, we should ask, is this MBG program really in favor of the community or just annulling obligations? Because it's the same as a basic food distribution program that has also been run by the Government," said the legislator from the East Java VI electoral district.
As BGN's partner, Nurhadi said that Commission IX of the DPR certainly has an interest in overseeing every aspect regarding MBG. This is so that the nutritional intervention program for children can run effectively, efficiently, and completely touch the needs of the community.
"When nutritional assistance is distributed in the form of raw materials without guidance, without cooking utensils, even without considering people's absorption, this is not a nutrition intervention program anymore but is a transfer of responsibility," he said.
"If programs like MBG actually raise public questions, including the form and quality of assistance, then it is a sign that there are loopholes that must be improved," continued Nurhadi.

Nurhadi also reminded that MBG implementers cannot equate the nutrition program with the Basic Food Social Assistance program. He warned BGN not to carelessly make policies just so that the MBG budget is maximally absorbed.
"MBG cannot be equated with the program for distributing basic necessities because the goal is different. MBG was originally prepared as a food menu program that can be directly consumed by children. Don't give away nutritious food, it becomes burdensome because people have to process it first. The value of the package alone is different, right," he said.
"Don't because you want the budget to be absorbed, then recklessly modify the technical implementation of MBG. First communicate with BGN. There has also been no discussion with us in the DPR," concluded Nurhadi.
It is known, viral on social media photos of MBG made from raw materials are distributed to students. The Head of the SPPG East Indonesia Mualaf Foundation (Yasmit) of East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, A. Basiro acknowledged the distribution of the raw MBG. His party distributed it to 4,075 students in 18 schools from PAUD/TK to SMA equivalent.
The local SPPG argued that MBG was distributed in the form of raw materials as an adjustment to school conditions which are currently on holiday or ahead of the class meeting. They said they distributed raw materials so that students could still receive benefits from the MBG program even though they were on school holidays.
Not only that, SPPG claims to distribute raw material packages to be brought home with the aim of avoiding the provision of packaged food. This is in an effort to avoid the use of artificial preservatives, dyes, and sweeteners, as well as minimize the consumption of ultra-processed food.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana ensured that BGN did not issue a policy of distributing MBG in the form of raw materials packages. He said that his party was compiling technical instructions for MBG during the school holidays.
