JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) agency warns of the risk of loss of life due to humanitarian operations that cannot be carried out due to the blockade of fuel entry into the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
The United Nations Agency for Assistance and Works for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) said Israel had prevented the entry of fuel into the Gaza Strip for more than 100 days, which threatened to stop humanitarian operations in the trapped enclave.
In his post on social media X on Tuesday the agency wrote that the health, water, food, and communication sectors were in danger due to an Israeli blockade of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
UNRWA stressed that humanitarian operations cannot be carried out without fuel.
"Without fuel, lives will be lost," the agency said, as reported by WAFA on June 17.
The Gaza Strip has experienced a humanitarian catastrophe since Israel closed its crossing on March 2, preventing the entry of all supplies, including food, medicine, aid, and fuel, while its troops stepped up genocide against Palestinians.
The UN agency stressed the need to lift Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip.
In a post on its website, UNRWA previously wrote, the UN humanitarian office (OCHA) said that between May 15 and June 9, the mission to collect fuel from northern Gaza was rejected by Israeli authorities 14 times. Meanwhile, about 260,000 liters of fuel were looted recently.
Since May 19, following a nearly 80-day blockade, Israeli authorities have allowed certain UN agencies and international NGOs to continue sending limited aid to Gaza.
