JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged Islamic countries to take collective action against escalating international law violations by Israel.

During a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OKI) Hissein Brahim Taha on Sunday, Foreign Minister Araghchi thanked him for condemning Israeli military aggression against Iran.

Foreign Minister Araghchi said the aggression was a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, posing a serious threat to regional and global stability, adding it underscores the dangers of impunity.

"This impunity encourages aggression and further crimes," the Foreign Minister warned, quoted from IRNA June 16.

He also reiterated Iran's right to self-defense, stressing that their country's Armed Forces are ready to defend the country's sovereignty.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the OIC in turn voiced deep concern over the Israeli attack, condemning the military's escalation.

He said the OIC would work closely with the United Nations to mobilize international support and prevent the region from falling further into instability.

Israel launched a military operation "Raising Lion" on Friday morning last week to Iran, targeting the country's nuclear and military facilities. Iran responded to the attack by launching an attack on Israel.
