JAKARTA - India's Aircraft from Phuket in Thailand to the Indian capital, New Delhi, received a bomb threat on board on Friday. The plane was forced to make a U-turn to the runway.

As reported by Reuters, 156 passengers on the AI 379 flight were escorted out of the plane, according to an emergency plan, a Thai airport official said.

The plane took off from Phuket airport to the Indian capital at 09.30 a.m. local time, Friday, June 13. The plane made a wide lap around the Andaman Sea and landed back on the southern island of Thailand, according to flight tracker Flightradar24.

The incident came after the crash of an Indian Air plane in Ahmedabad on Thursday shortly after takeoff, which killed more than 240 people.

AOT did not provide details about the threat of the bomb. India's water did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Indian airlines and airports were flooded with fake bomb threats last year, with nearly 1,000 calls and fake messages received in the first 10 months, nearly 10 times from 2023.
