The Attorney General's Office Investigates The Involvement Of Former Staff Nadiem In The Chromebook Case

JAKARTA - Attorney General's Office investigators are investigating the alleged involvement of former special staff of the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Mendikbudristek) Nadiem Makarim, totaling Handayani (FH), in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019 2022.

"In this regard, investigators continue to explore the role involved in the technology team," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the AGO Harli Siregar as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 10.

Harli said that what was explored was the alleged contribution of FH as a special staff (stafsus) of the Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Makarim to provide input in the procurement of Chromebook laptops.

"Investigators will continue to explore how the correlations are due to the position in question as staff," he said.

Harli also explained that the things that were investigated in examining FH were electronic evidence that had been read, studied, and investigated by investigators.

"Investigators will continue to try to collect as much evidence as possible in order to make light of this crime," he added.

On Tuesday morning,ANGY Handayani (FH) arrived at the Jampidsus Roundabout building, Jakarta, to fulfill the investigator's summons to the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) regarding the alleged corruption case in the procurement of a Chromebook laptop.

Based on ANTARA's monitoring, FH was accompanied by three legal counsel.

From arrival to signing the presence at the officer's desk, FH just kept quiet and smiled when the media crew asked about his arrival.

When the media crew also asked for his readiness to undergo examination as a witness, FH only smiled and immediately entered the AGO building.

Currently, the AGO is investigating a case of alleged corruption in the procurement of education digitization in the form of a Chromebook laptop at the Ministry of Education and Culture in 2019-2022.

Kapuspenkum Harli Siregar said that investigators were investigating allegations of malicious conspiracy by various parties by directing a technical team to conduct technical studies related to the procurement of equipment assistance related to technology education in 2020.

"In order to be directed at the use of laptops based on Chrome's operating system (operating system)," he said.

In fact, the use of Chromebooks is not a necessity. This is because in 2019 a trial of the use of 1,000 Chromebooks by the Pustekom Kemendikbudristek and the results were ineffective.

From this experience, the technical team also recommended using specifications with the Windows operating system. However, at that time, the Ministry of Education and Culture replaced the study with a new study that recommended using Chrome system operations.

In terms of budget, Harli said that the procurement spent Rp9.982 trillion.

The nearly ten trillion funds consist of Rp3.582 trillion in education unit funds (DSP) and around Rp6.399 trillion from special allocation funds (DAK).
