OGAN ILIR - Police revealed a case of stealing crude oil from the trurunk line pipeline belonging to PT Pertamina EP Zone 4 Prabumulih Field in Payakabung Village, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra, early Monday morning.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Ogan Ilir Police, AKP M. Ilham, said that the disclosure of this case began with a report by the Pertamina security team who suspected that there was unusual activity around the pipeline.

"The Resmob team immediately moved and at around 01.50 WIB managed to secure three suspects at the location," said Ilham when confirmed, Antara, Tuesday, July 10.

The three suspects arrested each had the initials SM (44), a resident of Banyuasin; BD (42), a resident of PALI; and AK Saputra (33), a resident of Palembang.

The results of field checks show that Pertamina's pipeline has been breached, and 50.32 barrels of crude oil worth around Rp. 51 million has been stolen and loaded into a modified truck.

"The truck used by the perpetrator has been modified with a tank with a capacity of 8 tons. The stolen oil was already in the truck when we arrived at the location," said Ilham.

From the suspect's hands, the police confiscated a number of evidences, including one unit of a red Mitsubishi truck with a modified tank, three 10-meter iron pipe blades, and one 15 meter long hose.

Several other perpetrators suspected of being involved managed to escape into the forest during the raid. Currently, the police are still pursuing other perpetrators.
