Don't Just Discourse! DKI DPRD Asks For Official Rules On Meetings At Hotels

JAKARTA - Secretary of Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Mujiyono, welcomed the government's discourse which again allowed the implementation of local government meetings or activities in hotels and restaurants.

However, he emphasized the importance of official rules as the basis for implementation in the field.

"Until now there has been no official instruction from President Prabowo Subianto. We encourage the central government to issue written regulations so that regions do not hesitate to carry out this policy," said Mujiyono in his statement, Tuesday, July 10.

This statement was in response to the statement of the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian who gave the green light for local governments to hold another meeting outside the office, including in hotels and restaurants.

Mujiyono considered the policy wise, especially in the midst of post-pandemic economic recovery efforts and regional budget pressure. He said, as long as this policy was carried out efficiently and measurably, sectors such as hotels, restaurants, travel, and MSMEs could revive.

"The effect is not only on the hotel. But also on other economic chains. This can help Jakarta's economic turnover," he said.

However, Mujiyono reminded that the implementation of the policy should not be carried out excessively. He emphasized the importance of clear supervision and limitations.

"As long as the use of the budget still holds the principle of accountability and transparency, of course this can provide broad benefits," he said.

Previously, in the Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) in West Nusa Tenggara, Wednesday (4/6), Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian stated that the regions were now allowed to hold activities and meetings at hotels or restaurants again.

"Regions may carry out activities in hotels and restaurants. I guarantee it, because I have spoken directly with President Prabowo," said Tito.

He explained that the budget cuts of IDR 50 trillion for 552 regions were not too significant, so the local government still had room to allocate the activity budget.

However, Tito also reminded local governments to continue to use the budget rationally, and not to burden regional finances just for the sake of meeting formality.

"Use your feelings, if you have three to four meetings, don't make it ten times," said Tito.
