JAKARTA - Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum condemned acts of violence carried out during a massive protest that took place in Los Angeles, United States (US) regarding the raids by immigration officials.
Sheinbaum also asked US authorities to respect legal rules in the migration process.
"It must be clear, we condemn violence from wherever it comes from," Sheinbaum said.
Protests spread in Los Angeles over the weekend over President Donald Trump's immigration law enforcement as a group of protesters, many carrying Mexican flags and posters criticizing US immigration authorities, gathered in various places around the city.
"We call on the Mexican people to act peacefully and not to be provoked," Sheinbaum said.
According to police statement, the protest was accompanied by car combustion. Several protesters threw bottles and projectiles.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said Trump made the situation even more difficult by deploying the National Guard.
Trump called the protesters rebels and riots in Los Angeles a hotspot in his efforts to eradicate illegal immigration.
The Republican president promised to illegally deport large numbers of people in the country and to close the US-Mexico border, by setting daily targets for the US Immigration and Customs border law enforcement agency to capture at least 3,000 migrants.
