SURABAYA - Surabaya State University (Unesa) won second place in the 2025 Javanometric UNS ranking thanks to its commitment to developing Javanese arts.
"This is a cool award. Unesa has consistently maintained her position in the top 3 of the Javanometric UNS. This is a matter of pride and motivation in preserving Javanese arts as part of the nation's identity," said Rector Unesa, Nurhasan or Cak Hasan, in a statement in Surabaya, Sunday.
The award was received by Deputy Chancellor III of Unesa, Bambang Sigit Widodo from the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon on the awarding night at Pendapa PUI Javanology, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta, Tuesday, June 3.
Bambang said the rating was a form of appreciation and institutional recognition of Unesa's commitment to preserving Javanese arts through the university's tridarma.
He explained that the strengthening of Javanese arts was carried out through various programs, including the existence of the Faculty of Language and Art (FBS), the International Accredited Javanese Language and Literature Education S-1 Study Program, and the Center for Superiors in Cultural Arts Science and Technology.
