JAKARTA Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno asked university graduates not only to become job seekers, but to be able to create new jobs amidst rapid global changes.
"Don't be complacent with being a job seeker, but be a job creator. Don't just be a follower, become an innovator who creates solutions for global challenges that continue to change," said Pratikno when delivering his speech via video conference at the opening of the 2025 SAP Career Day at the GIKUGM Student Center building, Yogyakarta, Thursday, June 5.
According to him, technological advances and digitalization have changed the landscape of the world of work, creating disruptions as well as new opportunities for digital-based professions.
In that context, according to Pratikno, campuses must be a transformative space for young professional candidates who are ready to face the changing times.
Technology disruption, he said, not only creates the challenge of losing traditional jobs, but also opens up opportunities for the emergence of new professions in the digital field.
"Today we are witnessing the world of a new paradigm in higher education in Indonesia," said Pratikno.
Therefore, Pratikno emphasized that campuses and industries need to work together in building ecosystems that not only produce quality talents but also innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
UGM Chancellor Ova Emilia emphasized the importance of synergy between campuses and industry in realizing the commitment to preparing graduates who are not only academically capable, but also adaptive to technological transformation and ready to contribute on the global stage.
