JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) informed that as many as seven patients who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 recorded last week were all reported to have recovered.
"Those (seven positive COVID-19-ed patients) were data last week. Everything has recovered. This variant does not cause severity and death," said Ministry of Health Spokesperson Widyawati as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 3.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Ministry of Health has not yet obtained actual data on case fluctuations that may occur in a number of areas.
The public is reminded to continue to apply the discipline of health protocols as has been carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially washing hands, maintaining cleanliness, and wearing masks in crowded public places.
"We understand the public's concerns because they remind the situation in 2020-2023," he said.
The Ministry of Health also appealed to the elderly and comorbid patients to remain the main concern.
"Be vigilant is still necessary, especially for those who have high risk. Let's keep it together with simple but effective preventive measures," he added.
The increase in COVID-19 cases has returned to the spotlight after a number of countries in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia, reported a spike in new cases since late May 2025.
This situation prompted the Ministry of Health to issue a circular of vigilance to all health facilities in Indonesia.

Confirmed separately, the Chairman of the Honorary Council of the Indonesian Lung Doctors Association, Prof. Tjandra Yoga Aditama, reminded that vigilance needs to be increased following the upward trend, especially in Thailand, which is now recording thousands of cases and deaths in a short time.
There are already schools in Samut Prakan, Thailand, which are re-implementing online learning due to an increase in cases. This is an alarm that COVID-19 has not completely disappeared," he said.
Not only in Asia, but other countries also experienced a similar trend. During his visit to Brisbane, Australia, Prof. Tjandra observed an increase in cases there, including the emergence of the NB.1.8.1 variant in the middle of winter.
"The temperature is already below 15 degrees Celsius, and cases are rising again," he said.
Facing this situation, Prof. Tjandra conveyed five important steps that must be considered by all parties, namely increasing the monitoring of the number of cases, severity, death, and variant of COVID-19 circulating in the community.
"This information is important to convey openly to the public," he said.
Tjandra emphasized the importance of re-vaccination for high-risk groups, especially the elderly and comorbid sufferers, at least one year after the last vaccination. He also highlighted the need for variant data circulating so that it can be adjusted to the available type of vaccine.
He also asked the government to increase regional cooperation such as through the ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergencys and Emerging Diseases as well as active communication with WHO which is considered crucial in dealing with the potential for new waves collectively.
"We need to realize that COVID-19 is still in our midst. The cases are still in various countries, including our countries as well," he said.
Finally, apply Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) by maintaining personal hygiene, healthy diet, and routine physical activity remains the main bastion.
"PHBS is not only important to prevent COVID-19, but also various other diseases," he said.
